Experts Meet for the Co-Creation of the Territorial Information Portal (POiNT)

On November 22, the co-creation workshop for the Territorial Information Portal (POiNT) took place in Lisbon. This initiative, promoted within the framework of the project “Geographic Databases and Applications for Forest Management” from the transForm Agenda, involved entities from the project consortium, including the Directorate-General for Spatial Planning (DGT), CoLAB ForestWISE, RAIZ, 2bForest, Altri Florestal, and The Navigator Company, as well as invited entities such as the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF), Regional Coordination and Development Commissions (CCDR), and independent consultants.

Organized by DGT and facilitated by the NOVA Innovation and Analytics Lab, the workshop’s main goal was to promote participants’ engagement in the design and development of the POiNT. During the event, dynamics were conducted to stimulate inspiration and ideation, allowing guests to contribute their ideas for the creation of this platform.

A Portal for Sustainable Forest Management

POiNT is a central element of the project “Geographic Databases and Applications for Forest Management.” This project aims to contribute to the advancement of sustainable forest management through better and easier access to geospatial base data, which will support the development of customized cartographic products and management systems to meet specific client needs.

The launch of POiNT, scheduled for the end of 2025, will be a significant milestone for improving forest management, consolidating geospatial information into a single portal accessible to decision-makers and forest managers.

Other activities highlighted in this project include the development of the Integrated Forest Management System to support forest producer organizations, the enhancement of the ForestSIM® platform for forest certification support, as well as the creation of new technological tools, such as drone software capable of mapping property boundaries in real-time and a mobile application that integrates data collected by drones with the information provided by POiNT.
