BOOSTING ELECTRIC MOTORIZATION IN THE FORESTRY SECTOR IN PORTUGAL

What is the electric motorization project in the forest?

This project aims to promote the adoption of electric vehicles and machines, hybrid or hydrogen engines, for forestry operations and transportation, supporting forestry companies in reducing their carbon footprint and contributing to the objectives of the Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality 2050 (RNC2050).

What are the main objectives of the project?

In what ways does the project contribute to decarbonization?

The project supports decarbonization by encouraging the use of electric, hybrid, and hydrogen vehicles in forestry operations. These technologies emit less carbon than traditional fossil-fueled equipment, supporting the shift to a more sustainable, low-carbon economy.

What are the main activities planned within the project?

A1 – Creation of an Observatory for Electric Motorization in the Forestry Sector

A2 – Research & Development of electric charging stations and charging networks

A3 – Identification and analysis of application cases

A4 – Pilot projects for the use of electric motorization in forest logistics

A5 – Promotion of results and demonstration sessions
