Intermunicipal Network of Biomass Parks and Forest Containers

The CIM Região de Coimbra, under the project ‘Regional Networks for the Valorisation of Woody Biomass’, part of the transForm Agenda, is promoting, in conjunction with the municipalities, an Intermunicipal Network of Biomass Parks and Forest Containers, the aim of which is to use agricultural and forestry waste for energy purposes.

This project aims to valorise biomass from a circular economy perspective and implement alternative methods to burning waste. At this stage, the project includes the installation of a series of forestry bins distributed throughout the territory that can be used by the population.

The intermunicipal network of biomass collection parks and forestry containers aims to create an alternative to burning agricultural and forestry waste, creating infrastructures in the various municipalities in the region for its disposal and utilisation.
