Training in the Evaluation of Machinery for Forestry Operations

On 9 October, Figueira da Foz will host a training session entitled ‘Machine evaluation for more effective management of forestry operations’, as part of Agenda transForm’s Forest Knowledge Academy project. The event will take place at Somitel’s premises and will be led by Maurício Acuña, an expert from the Institute of Natural Resources – LUKE in Finland.

Aimed at technical managers, forestry operators and others interested in evaluating forestry machines, the training promises to cover the latest methodologies and analysis tools to improve the management of forestry operations. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about time models, KPIs (such as performance and efficiency), data collection techniques with sensors and the importance of optimising the use of equipment.

Lasting 8 hours, the event will begin at 9.30am with a presentation by Pedro Britto, from CoLAB ForestWISE, followed by a practical exercise in the afternoon.

Mauricio Acuña, with almost 30 years of international experience, is currently the main coordinator of a European Union CBE JU project entitled OptiForValue, with the aim of creating high-value, sustainable and resilient forest value chains for a European bioeconomy.

The expert will share practical examples, using calculation tools such as ALPACA, to help participants analyse costs and productivity in real scenarios.
