Installation of permanent intensive monitoring plots continues apace

The transForm Agenda’s Experimental Plot Networks project is underway, with the EcoDendro team from the University of Évora installing permanent intensive monitoring plots.

Two Quercus suber cork oak plots have been installed, one at Herdade da Mitra and the other in Mogadouro (in partnership with the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and the APATA Association), both with continuous measuring equipment, such as dendrometers, sap flow, soil moisture, rainfall and temperature.

The installation of two intensive monitoring plots for holm oak (Quercus rotundifólia) at Herdade da Mitra and a plot for black oak (Quercus pyrenaica) in Valpaços (in partnership with the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro) also began, allowing us to obtain information of great interest on the species in question.

In October, technical visits were also made to future Quercus pyrenaica plots in the municipalities of Sabugal and Guarda.
