PORTICOS Project Implements State-of-the-Art Technology in Digital Wood Assessment

On November 29th, the PORTICOS project team – Digital Wood Assessment at the Factory Entrance, coordinated by Biond, visited the new gantry located at the SONAE Arauco factory in Mangualde.

This new gantry, developed by the Swedish company CIND, is based on optical measurements made with stereocameras to estimate the solid volume of logs and chips in truck loads.

The PORTICOS project seeks to introduce innovation and development into the forestry supply chain through the adoption of new technologies and more expedient and reliable measurements when wood is received at the mill.
