Greener Operations & Logistics

WP2 aims to contribute to the decarbonization of logistics operations from the forest to the mill. This will be achieved through the development and adoption of electrified harvesting and transportation systems adapted to national forests, which will lead to gains in operations efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and GHG emissions. Collecting and sharing information among forest practitioners will boost process digitization and automation, improve traceability and chain-of-custody, and contribute to human resources capacitation. Planning and decision-making processes can be improved with novel data-dependent software that can optimize the use of equipment and human resources, which is instrumental in overcoming the scarcity of qualified manpower.
